The increased globalization and the transformation into a knowledge economy have created needs for an entrepreneurial society, where individuals act entrepreneurially within established businesses as well as in creating new ones. An entrepreneurial society thus creates a need for knowledge of entrepreneurship and innovation management. It is essential that students have the ability to understand the conditions and processes for establishing new businesses as well as for the development and growth of established businesses.
The course is divided into three parts: 1. Basic entrepreneurship, 4,5 hp. In this part the concepts of entrepreneurship and innovation are discussed, as well as the conditions for entrepreneurship and innovation and the process of developing and growing a business. 2. Innovation management, 4,5 hp. This part addresses entrepreneurial activities and innovation management in established companies. 3. Entrepreneurship and innovation in different contexts, 6 hp. In this final part of the course students will select a topic within the field of entrepreneurship and innovation management (such as social entrepreneurship, ethnic minority entrepreneurship, academic entrepreneurship, innovation growth models, management of innovation, etc.). Students are required to review and analyze literature related to their chosen topic and to write an essay. The essay could serve as an input to the student s forthcoming bachelor thesis.
